Hampshire Minerals and Waste Plan

A public consultation is open until 31st January for the three large gravel extraction pits that will be developed just south of Alderholt at Harbridge.

Councils and individuals are encouraged to comment online  due to the grave concerns regarding the amount of heavy vehicles and environmental degradation.

The second consultation will take place at the end of April.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is offering support to New Forest residents and businesses to help them start-up and grow their new business in 2023.

Whether you are thinking of becoming self-employed, have a new business idea that you would like to explore, or are a New Forest business that has been trading for less than three years and needs help to grow and be more resilient, this support could be perfect for you.

Councillor Michael Harris OBE, New Forest District Council Portfolio Holder for Business, High Streets and Tourism said: “There is no doubt that businesses need all the help that they can get at the moment, so it is timely that NFDC are launching an exciting new package of free support for start-ups and new businesses. I encourage any New Forest resident who is thinking of becoming self-employed or starting a business to contact IncuHive who will help them to have a clear business road map from the outset”.

The support includes ongoing 1:1 guidance to help you put the advice given into action and to maximise the chances of your business surviving long term. Funding from New Forest District Council means this service is completely free of charge to New Forest residents or businesses.

The start-up support is being delivered by small business experts IncuHive. Andy Pringle, Business Support Manager at IncuHive said: “Getting the right advice in the early stages can dramatically increase your chances of success. IncuHive’s experienced team have already supported thousands of start-ups and we would love to help you too.”

Subject: Major concern regarding NHS medical facilities in the Fordingbridge area
Importance: High

Dear Sir Desmond

I wrote this in haste yesterday and failed to press send……

I am the Parish Council Chairman for a village called Sandleheath near Fordingbridge in the NFDC area.

I would like to inform you that there is a major issue regarding medical facilities in the NFDC Fordingbridge area. A text has been sent out to patients of the Fordingbridge Surgery today asking that, due to current demand, contact should only be made with “Urgent Matters”. Our residents in Sandleheath are predominantly of an older generation who would probably, due to their more resilient nature, be hesitant to contact the doctor for matters unless extremely critical.

This alone is a concern, but Fordingbridge is currently having to absorb more than its share of the government demand for new housing. The New Forest National Park is protected from development and so the fringe towns and villages are targeted for the development quota. There are 1,000’s of new houses planned for Fordingbridge and they are currently being built, with the rest following on in the not too distant future, hence our concern.

If the Doctors surgery cannot cope now, with no plans for any new facilities, then how will it cope when all the new planned developments are completed and the patients escalate.

I have been informed, by our local NFDC Councillors, that there is a current lack of skilled Doctors available; if this is the case then this needs to be urgently addressed by the Government. Please can you pass our concern to the Health Secretary as a matter of urgency.

I have also escalated this issue to the NFDC Planning department as a major cause for concern, and a major reason why developments should not be allowed to continue locally until the matter is resolved. We need to robustly protect our current residents and ensure their local health service provides the care they need..

We would really appreciate you doing everything you can to escalate the matter.

I look forward you receiving your response.

Best Regards

Caroline

Thanks. I will draw your concerns to the Secretary of State, there is a formula that draws additional NHS funding to areas of population growth

From Monday 5 December until Friday 27 January at 5pm, the public can comment on two proposed PSPOs, which look to ban the lighting of fires and use of BBQs principally on the Crown Lands managed by Forestry England, and the feeding and petting of ponies, horses, mules, and donkeys in the New Forest.

NFDC will not increase car parking charges next year

Parking costs in the NFDC district car parks will not rise in 2023.

The Council short stay annual 'parking clock' will remain at £30, log stay annual clock at £140 and long stay quartlerly clock at £40.

Car park charges in the New Forest District towns and villages has not changed since January 2018 and so these will stay the same, and coastal car park charges will be held at the current 2021 price.

New Forest District Council residents could benefit from energy efficiency funding

New Forest District Council (NFDC) are advising residents they can apply for funding for the installation of measures to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Homes with a mains gas supply could be eligible for funding up to £10,000, and those that don’t could receive up to £25,000.

People who live in the district qualify for funding if their homes have an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of E, F, or G and they have a total household income of £30,000 or less, or they receive a means-tested benefit, or they meet the eligibility criteria specified in our ECO flexible eligibility statement of intent.

Residents can find out their EPC rating by visiting https://www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate.

NFDC was successful as part of a consortium of local authorities in securing funding from the government’s Sustainable Warmth funding competition. The scheme will help residents reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint using funding that will help tackle fuel poverty.

Funding under the Warmer Homes programme, delivered by AgilityEco on behalf of the consortium, is available for energy efficiency measures such as insulation, solar PV panels and air source heat pumps.

Funding is available on a first come, first served basis until March 2023 and is subject to eligibility and the EPC rating of each home.

The Warmer Homes Consortium Grant is available to owner-occupiers and private rental tenants. Landlords of private rental tenants will be required to make a financial contribution.

Residents can apply online at www.warmerhomes.org.uk/programme or call the Warmer Homes team on 0800 038 5737.
